Self Study Week 3
Here's my self study for week 3. Today i've used the built in tools of unity (Terrain and ProBuilder) to make an island for my scene.
I've tried to make the island a little tricky to navigate with some loops and such so that it will be interesting to the see the results with nav mesh later in the unit.
Doing this kind of thing is easy! The terrain tools are as simple as painting, you can click to raise areas of the terrain and shift-click to lower areas. It was a bit tricky to get a feel for and i dont really like the look it gives, but oh well!
As for probuilder, i made the small hut next to the lighthouse and lighthouse stairs using probuilder, it's a bit ugly but there's not much you can do with probuilder. I think you're much better off using blender and having a tried and tested program do your modelling than some half baked unity plugin with an awful UI. There is a saying, "Jack of all trades, master of none", and I believe this holds true with ProBuilder and Unity. I think this kind of thing should be outside of unity's scope, and should leave it to proper modelling programs.
